Screens

Troubleshooting

Most floor problems are a pairing code, a network drop, or a playlist that is not assigned to that screen.

The screen key is not valid

Copy the code exactly as it appears on the player. The player has to be sitting on the pairing screen so it can register that code with Dishplay. A code from a player that was closed, or one typed from memory, will not match.

The key expired

Restart the Dishplay player. It shows a new code. A pending code lasts 48 hours and refreshes while the pairing screen stays open. After it expires, the portal asks you to restart the player and use the new code.

The player stays on “Waiting for activation”

The portal has not claimed that code yet. Add the screen with that exact key and a location. Only an owner or an admin can add a screen. The player checks about every 10 seconds after the screen is saved.

The portal says the screen is offline

Online means the player checked in within about the last 2 minutes. Check power, Wi-Fi, and that the player app or the browser tab is still open. A screen that never finished pairing also shows as offline, because it has never checked in.

The menu is still playing, but the portal says offline

The browser player, and the Android and Fire TV apps, keep a local copy of media they have already downloaded. Playback can continue through an outage. The portal switches back to online after the next successful check-in.

The screen is online and the menu is wrong or blank

  • Confirm a playlist is assigned to that screen.
  • Confirm the item is enabled.
  • Check the item’s schedule. An item only shows inside its days and hours. Those times follow the screens assigned to the playlist.
  • A video plays for the length of the file. Its playlist duration cannot be shortened.
  • A large playlist needs room on the device. The Android and Fire TV player reports when the playlist is too big for that device’s cache.

A video wall says Completed and has no playlists

Segments can finish as Completed (Completado) while no playlists were created. That happens when Auto-generate playlists (Generar listas automáticamente) was left off. The wall has no control to generate them later. The video wall guide covers turning the toggle on before you create the wall, and building the synced playlists by hand.

The picture is sideways

In the portal, set that screen’s orientation to landscape, landscape inverted, portrait, or portrait inverted. The player picks up the change on its next check-in.
